ASCO Tools History:

1879 After having learned the cabinet-maker profession at Johann Weiss in Vienna – the famous wood processing tool plant, M. J. Horwath registers within Codlea City Hall the first wood processing tool plant in Romania. The plant was set up on the Vulcanita River banks, also ensuring the power lead by means of a mill wheel.

1894 The plant is moved on 27, Nouă Street, its nowadays headquarters. The machinery actuating was ensured by a 13 HP steam locomotive.

1913 The machinery fleet is enlarged, reaching a 40 HP installed capacity.

1927 The first 7 kW actuating electromotive is added. At this date, the plant had 34 workers and produced a wide range of planes, counters, cabinet work, chess pieces, etc.

1949 Subsequent to nationalization, IPROFIL Măgura Codlea is set up, to reunite all wood processing companies in Codlea:
• “Georg Wenzel” (1904) – cabinet work tools and plane cutters;
• “Martin Kristel si fiul” (1908) – balance levels and wood metres;
• “Gross Peter” (1910) – export parquet;
• “Urdareanu” (1937) – furniture, curved furniture, shuttle bins, etc.

1964 A number of 1800 employees specialized in furniture production and technical articles is reached. “The Technology and Tool Endowment Group” was set up, to ensure technical assistance necessary for tool purchasing and maintenance.

1969 The first wood processing mills are manufactured, out of allied steels, plated with metal carbides.

1973 Due to the wood processing activity expansion and to the classic and special tool demand's increase, “The Tool Group” is set up, in order for autochthon tools to be created. During 1973 – 1983, over 2-million-dollar investments and expansions were realized. A series of machines and machinery were designed and realized – some of them in collaboration with “Transilvania” University in Brasov –; training courses taught by professors within Brasov University were organized. At the end of this period, almost 700 modular tool dimensions existed (as opposed to 20, in 1973).

1973 Drills, groove mills, and other mill types.

1975 Chipper disks, breaker blocks.

1978 Single profile cutters.

1980 CMS reinforced circular saw.

1983 Parquet mills and building mills.

          Profiled cutter heads.

          Planing heads.

1984 Dashed-sticks removable cutter heads.

1985 Pencil removable cutter heads.

1986 Profile – Counterprofile cutters.

1987 Worm-hobs (Zuckermann set).

1994 The company becomes a majority-Dutch-capital stock company. During the following period, the company has undergone thorough restructuring and modernizing actions.

2005 The company merged with Holland Precision Products, an important import tool distributor on the Romanian market, thus increasing its product range.
